This week’s question is about methods of calling for help or assistance and is a two-part question. The first part deals with Coast Guard Requirements the second part with alternate means of signaling for help.
This weeks Question
The US Coast Guard requires we carry certain items to signal for help, some are for day use only, others only work at night, we are required to have some of each on board or we can carry a third set that are approved for use both day and night.
-What are the approved Day Time only distress signals?
-What are the approved Night only distress signals?
-What devices are approved for day and night use?
In addition to the Coast Guard approved items above there are 10 other methods of signaling for help recognized by the International Maritime Community as Distress Signals. What are they?
