Sunday, September 2 was the 34th Annual Parade of Sail at the Gloucester Schooner Fest which is held each Labor Day weekend. This was our third year attending and it has gotten better every year with more large schooners putting in appearances.
The highlight this year was the Canadian Bluenose 2 docked next to and sailing with Colombia.
The original schooners of this pair raced against each other in the great fishing schooner races which were all won by Bluenose, Colombia was the only American Schooner to come close to beating her.
It was also nice to see Gloucester Harbor piers once again filled with the masts of sailing ships easily letting one get an idea of what the harbor must have looked like 100 years ago!
