After a year of downtime, The Old Salt is back!  And, what a year it has been!  No, we haven’t been sailing, we’ve been working, not that we wanted to but, with the world in lockdown, there just wasn’t a lot of places one could go.  While we’ve been working we have also been observing the hugh and unexpected growth in sailing.

This sudden growth in sailing has created a problem, How to educate, all the new sailors?  The internet is inundated with new sailors asking questions, sailing schools are booked weeks in advance and those of us with cruising, live-aboard, and maintenance/repair experience have been inundated with hundreds of questions.

With the question of “How to Educate New Sailors” in mind, using what we learned as professional sailing instructors, sailors, Repair Technicians and, sailmakers, Lessons From An Old Salt will shortly begin producing videos and articles on the Basics of Sailing, Cruising, Living Aboard and  Vessel Maintenance/Repair.  Our goal is to pass on the  65 plus years and over 100,000 nm of cumulative experience we have maintaining, repairing, cruising, and racing sailing vessels from Newfoundland to the Caribbean.
