OK, Lesson for today, Read your charts and watch where your going! Follow the channel markers and read the water colors. Notice the color of the water around this boat it is pretty light, thats an indication there is not much water there. In this case Southwest Point sandbar Key Biscayne FL.
This boat has been here for the last 24hours now. High tide is at 1800 so maybe they will get him off then, but it is going to cost him new underwater gear. You can’t drive that far onto a sandbar without breaking something, props, struts, shafts, Willing to bet it has been lonely out there and a bit embarrassing!
Update; this guy sat here for about 72 hours during which the weather went bad and because he was far enough onto the sandbar the local towing companies didn’t have enough power to pull him off, we watched them try. He eventually got off with help from the tide and a fairly large tow boat.
Expensive lesson and not the first boat I’ve seen on this sandbar!
