It has been a while since I have posted anything, anywhere. Getting Malaya launched, her mast stepped and her systems commissioned, as well as moving out of an apartment and back on board has taken all our free time for several months.
Now after 20-months Malaya is afloat, we have moved aboard and taken her out for sea trials. In a week or so we will have finished provisioning, taken care of last-minute problems and be on our way to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Malaya’s sea trials went very well, she showed a turn of speed through the water of 7 knots in less wind than ever before. She also responded exceedingly well to the being steered by the Monitor wind vane. Both were very pleasing results of hours of backbreaking work. Her new electronics suite is up and running, giving us a tremendous amount of information that we didn’t have in the past. The only real downside to three days of sea trials was discovering a leak in an old copper fuel line somewhere under the cabin sole between the fuel tank manifold valves and the Racor filter.
