It is Friday so time for the Question of the Week.
This weeks question concerning Anchor Snubbers comes from a fellow cruiser, his question was “How long and of what size should an Anchor Snubber be?
Great question, I hadn’t ever given it much thought and really can’t remember ever reading anything technical on the subject. Curious I started looking and found there are some actual tables listing sizes for Anchor Snubbers. As it turns out a snubber of the proper size and length not only reduces shock loads on your deck gear but directly contributes to reducing the maximum static load that your chain will experience in a given situation.
So “What size and length should your snubber be if your boat is 35′-40′ or 40′-45′ or 45′-50′?”
As always we will publish the answer(s) on Monday. Have a good weekend everyone!
